US DOT Assessment

As U.S. DOT qualified Substance Abuse Professionals we are certified and specifically trained in all aspects of controlled substance misuse situations. As SAPs, we are the advocate for neither the employer nor the employee. Our function is to protect workplace safety.

We base our decisions on information gathered in a comprehensive structured interview and the results of 5 empirically tested and validated diagnostic screens. Every decision complies with the criteria established in the DSM-5 by the American Psychiatric Association. If a problem does exist we recommend a level of care based upon the Patient Placement Criteria of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

Following assessment, we provide a clinical impression of whether your employee “meets criteria” for SUD (substance-use disorder) or not, and develop recommendation reports outlining possible interventions such as psychoeducation, in or out patient treatment, follow-up testing and aftercare.

The assessment includes the following

  • A comprehensive face-to-face or virtual assessment;
  • Psychometric testing;
  • A comprehensive virtual or face-to-face assessment session;
  • A review of your bio/psych/social history
  • A review of your alcohol / drug use history;
  • A review of your legal history.

At the end of the assessment session:

  • You will be informed of the assessment results and the recommended course of action you will need to take.
  • We provide you with referral to an education program or counselling/treatment provider who can provide the recommended course of action.
  • We submit an Assessment Summary Report to your employer / referral source and the FMCSA’s Alcohol / Drug Clearinghouse.

Follow-Up Session

  • After completing the recommendations, per DOT requirements, you will need to complete a follow-up session. The cost of the follow-up session is included in the service fee.

Assessment Fee: $325.00

Session Length: 60 minutes
